Tape for Heat Sealers - Andrew Roberts
PTFE tape for packaging machinery is tan or brown in color. It is made by coating a fiberglass cloth with PTFE. One side is also coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive, which permits these tapes to be used at temperatures of 500 degrees F. This unique combination of materials is also resistant to tears, punctures and abrasions. For these reasons, they are widely used in the packaging , chemical processing and aerospace industries.
Which Adhesive System Should You Use?
Acrylic Adhesive PTFE tape usually has a blue liner. The adhesive itself is aggressive and has an extended shelf life over a narrower range of temperatures (-100 F to 350 F).These products are the best choice when applied to an ambient surface, and heat is applied to the fabric. Most sizes are available with or without a blue poly release liner. In some cases these tapes can handle the the intermittent temperatures required for impulse sealing.
Silicone adhesive is designed for applications requiring operating temperatures up to 500°F. Typical packaging and general industrial applications include covering heat sealing jaws and elements on various types of equipment such as shrink wrap/L bar, blister packaging, and form/fill/seal machines. Aerospace applications include tool and mold release, heater cable and wire harness wrap as well as flash breaker tape. Available with or without yellow release liner. Normal shelf life is between 12 & 18 months.

Premium Grade PTFE Tape
This premium series of PTFE tape is manufactured by coating one side of our #502 fabric with a pressure sensitive adhesive. The fiberglass substrate has a tighter weave than that of standard grade material, and a higher PTFE content for maximum release properties. This series should be considered where performance is the main purchasing consideration.

Available 40″ wide x the yard or in slit rolls from 1/4″ to 36″ in lengths of 10*,18 & 36 yards.
Minimum quantities may be required for 10yd rolls of certain thickness’.
Values shown are nominal and should not be used for writing specifications
You may also need:
- PTFE Coated Glass Cloth
Our PTFE fabric consists of a fiberglass substrate which is then coated with PTFE. This combination provides a dimensionally strong non-stick surface
- PTFE Belts
PTFE belts and belting materials are available for applications that require superior release characteristics, and thermal stability
- High Modulus PTFE Tape
High modulus PTFE tape has less elongation and greater tensile strength than plain skived PTFE tape.
- PTFE Zone Tape
PTFE zone tape is primarily used in applications where it is not desirable for adhesive to come in contact with a heating element.
- Metal Detectable PTFE Tape
Metal detectable PTFE tape is ideal for food manufacturers who are packaging their products in poly bags. Tape that contaminates packaged food is detected
