Teflon® Roll Coverings - Preparation
The cylinder to be covered must be flat faced and free from all grease, oil and old coatings. This can be accomplished by sanding with 125 grit sandpaper and wiping with a non oil solvent such as MEK or ACETONE. When clean, use a carpenter's square or level to make a reference line across the face of the roll. This is where the roll covering will be started and will enable the technician to keep the  PTFE covering straight during application

Cut a piece of the roll covering equivalent to the circumference of the roll plus 2 inches, keeping ends as square as possible. Peel back release paper liner and attach it to a 3" cardboard core with masking tape, to aid in handling during application.
Apply the adhesive edge of the Fluorglas to the reference line. Wind release paper on to the cardboard core as the Fluorglas is applied.  At the same time another person should press or wipe Fluorglas material into place with a clean cloth. This helps prevent the formation of creases and air bubbles. Trapped air bubbles can be removed by slitting the bubble with a razor blade and pressing down firmly to eject the air.

After the complete circumference has been covered with Fluorglas, overlap the ends 2 inches. Then make an incision along the entire length of the seam, cutting through both layers of material.
Remove the top layer of the  cut material 6       Carefully peel back the Fluorglas and remove the bottom layer of the excess material. To prevent adhesive contact of the waste material and the roll covering, twist the strip as it is pulled away from the cylinder.

Using either a plastic comb or another plastic tool, start at the center of the seam and smooth outward to make a clean butt splice. 8       Apply the second section and following selections in the same way, overlapping the edge as well as the ends by 2 inches. This will allow a clean butt seam when material is smoothed as previously described. Continue this procedure until entire surface is complete
